Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

HerbKnowledge provides educational information about herbs, their traditional uses, evidence and safety. This Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data when you visit www.herbknowledge.net or contact us.

Controller and contact

Catherine Davis, trading as HerbKnowledge, is the controller for the personal data described in this policy.

For privacy questions or requests, email herbknowledge.net@gmail.com.

Please do not send medical emergencies, highly sensitive health information or information that you do not want included in an email.

Information we process

Visiting the site

Our hosting and security systems process technical information needed to deliver, secure and troubleshoot the site. This can include your IP address, browser and device information, the page requested, the time of the request and security or error information.

We use this information to operate, secure and troubleshoot HerbKnowledge. We do not use it to build a health profile about you.

HerbKnowledge is hosted using AWS Lightsail infrastructure in the UK region. Technical and security logs are kept only for as long as needed to operate, secure and troubleshoot the site, or to meet a legal obligation. The precise server-side retention configuration is controlled at hosting level and is reviewed when hosting or logging arrangements change.

Contacting us

If you email us, we process the information in your message and the address from which you contact us. We use it to respond and manage your enquiry.

We keep correspondence until it is no longer needed or is deleted. Please do not send medical emergencies, highly sensitive health information or information that you do not want included in an email.

Privacy choices

When you make a privacy choice, HerbKnowledge stores the choice, notice version, expiry and an opaque reference in your browser. We use this necessary storage to remember your choice and avoid showing the same notice again.

We also retain a minimal first-party record of the choice in our WordPress database. It records a keyed digest of the opaque reference, the time of the decision, the category choices, notice and mechanism versions, the source of the choice and any Global Privacy Control status. It does not store your raw IP address, page path, search term, health information, message, email address, merchant or browsing history in this record.

We retain consent evidence only for as long as needed to demonstrate and manage the choice, then delete it under our retention review.

Optional technologies

The Functional preferences, Analytics and Advertising and affiliate technology categories are available in the preference centre, but they are not currently in use on English HerbKnowledge.

This release does not load Google Analytics, a Google tag, Google Tag Manager, advertising technology, affiliate tracking technology or Shopping Country storage. We will update this policy and the Cookie & Storage Notice before activating an optional technology.

Links to other websites

HerbKnowledge links to third-party websites. A third party's privacy practices apply once you leave our site. Review the privacy notice of the destination website before providing it with personal information or making a purchase.

Why we use personal data

We rely on the legal basis that applies to the processing and your location. This can include processing needed to run and secure the site, responding to an enquiry that you send to us, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the site where those interests are not overridden by your rights, your consent for optional storage where consent is required and a legal obligation where applicable.

Who receives information

We share information only where needed to operate the site or respond to an enquiry. This can include hosting, security and email service providers. We do not currently share optional analytics, advertising or affiliate-technology data because those technologies are not active in this release.

Some service providers may process information outside the UK or EEA. Where this applies, we use the safeguards required for the relevant transfer.

Your choices and rights

You can reject optional technologies or change your choices at any time through Cookie preferences in the footer.

Depending on where you live and the processing involved, you may have rights to ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability. You may also withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that happened before withdrawal.

If you are in the UK, you may have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. You can find information at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site or legal requirements change. The current version and update date will always appear on this page.
